When I say "escaping big tech", I mean not using software and services (often software as a service) from large tech companies such as Google (especially Google), or that do similarly bad things as a large tech company. There are a lot of issues with big tech, and oftentimes people that do not possess a great understanding of computers fail to see them. And it is quite understandable that a lot of people don't see the issues with big tech, these companies are able to use a lot of power (money) to ensure that they are a highly popular and seemingly good choice. Google is most popular search engine by far, and Google Chrome is the most popular browser by far, and Gmail is one of the biggest email services by far, a huge amount of the list of most popular online services and software in the world can be found in Google's portfolio. And this leads us to the first issue with big tech, and as far as this website is concerned the most heinous. Big tech has butt fucked your freedom into digital oblivion.
